Laurent Vaguener performing "Notre Vie C'est la Musique", Monaco's entry at the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest.
A series of great - and greatly successful - Montegasque entries came to a screeching halt with this quite sub-par song and performance (btw, isn't the way he moves a bit creepy?), which unsurprisingly only managed a 16th place at the voting. It was sort of an end of an era for the tiny state, since after that they basically withdraw from the contest, their return 25 years later being just a pale shadow of their former selves.
Comments on "Eurovision 1979 - Monaco"
The stage ... The stage presentation is bad, but the song is so good that this still should have won,? with Norway on second place and Israel as third.
, thanks for your ... , thanks for your comment djmusicjac?
the key to monaco ... the key to monaco being back in eurovision is to have The Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra and back to the chanson? tunes of 50s to 70s. World Class Chanson from Monaco, nice melodies, world class composing, orchestra and romanticism. Another key is to make us all fall in love with the music
very beautiful ... very beautiful chanson this is the kind of chanson that i like romantic, melodic? and with an orchestra, melodic romanticism
very good and i ... very good and i totally disagree with? your opinion about the song tasosk
cool? cool?
Maybe if Slovakia ... Maybe if Slovakia won and showed small countries without a lot of diaspora or neighbours can go all the way?! I'm actually surprised at what I had written. I like 2006 most now, after that? it's 2004 and finally, 2005. Even though, last of the 3, I still quite enjoy it. :-)
It's just ... It's just unfortunate that during 2004 to 2006 they failed to qualify? to the final. They've stayed out again 2007 to 2010, who knows if they'll return in 2011?
Funny? Funny?
One of? if not THE ... One of? if not THE worst Monaco entry
Birk ! Monaco asked ... Birk ! Monaco asked again Didier Barbelivien to write another dull song (he did France and Monaco 1978 and France 1987and he's very famous in France) and he did as always = a catalogue of names and common places ! And the singer (whose true? name is Wagner ! lol) is not good and only sang songs from cartoons !
I actually like ... I actually like this song. Even though it's not a masterpeice, it's okay enough. But I can agree, that the singer moves in a weird way? on stage.

Well, they ... Well, they returned? with a much better song in 2004 and had an even better song in 2005!But the last ('till now in 2006) Monegasque entry was mediocre, again!
An awful? song An awful? song
Yes, I was quite ... Yes, I was quite surprised that Monaco, the country which gave us so many quality entries (many classics in that decade alone!) should leave the contest after giving? us this very mediocre song. At least Italy left with a bang with "Fiumi di parole".
